Friends of the Lake District is 85 years old this year!

As part of our celebrations we’d love you to join us for a celebratory Summer Solstice Walk to the summit of Lattrig which offers magical views out across the northern Lakes: the perfect place for a party to watch the sun set with friends old and new.

Latrigg overlooks Fitz Park in Keswick where the rally was held at which Friends of the Lake District was founded back in 1934.

Bring your supper and bring your friends. We’ll bring the cake and bubbly!

This is a FREE non-bookable event.

Is the walk difficult?

The walk from Keswick to the summit is classed as Moderate. 2.5km walk uphill (fairly steep in sections) on mainly aggregate/stone/soil path with approx. 250m of height gain.

For people with mobility issues who can’t manage the full walk there is a small car park near the summit.

Where to meet:

Keswick – Latrigg path. Junction of Brundholme Road/Spooneygreen Lane, Keswick. (See map below).

6:30 pm to 9:30 pm approx. finish time.

How to get there
