On the 10th of September Oxford Archaeology North will be hosting an open day to give people a chance to come and see the archaeological excavation of a medieval Long House taking place at Grange Scar, Little Asby.

Site tours will begin at Great Asby Village Hall with an introduction to the project, before a minibus service will transport people to the drop off point. There is a short but steep walk up to the site, where our archaeologists will be on hand to give guided tours of the excavation and the surrounding landscape.

There will be an opportunity to see their exciting discoveries, handle period reproductions and hear about what life would have been like for the inhabitants of the longhouse centuries ago. All are welcome but the morning session will be focussed on families with younger children, with an afternoon session aimed at adults. Hope to see you there!

Bookings:

Morning session: 10am - 12:45pm: This will be focussed on families with younger children

Afternoon session: 1:45pm - 4:30pm: This will be available for everyone (but will be pitched for adults)
