Join us on this unique 8 mile sponsored walk across the tidal sands and mudflats of Morecambe Bay to raise money to protect the stunning Lake District landscape.

The Morecambe Bay Walk takes you across the largest expanse of tidal mudflats and sand in the United Kingdom. This landscape is constantly moving and shifting so you will be led by Cedric Robinson, the Queen’s Official Guide to the sands, who has been leading these walks across the bay for over 50 years.

This year we have our own exclusive date so everyone walking on the day will be walking for the Lake District, which should make for a great atmosphere!

The walk is suitable for anyone who is comfortable walking for 3 to 4 hours. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult and well behaved dogs are welcome. The majority of the walk will be on sand but there will be times where you will need to wade through some channels so be prepared to get wet up to your knees.

This popular event will take place on Sunday 21st May starting at 1.45pm, from Arnside Promenade. The walk will end at Kent’s Bank, near Grange-over-Sands at approximately 5pm.

Last year we raised just over £8,000, which was fantastic, and this year we’re hoping to do even better and raise £10,000. This will go towards our vital work looking after native woodlands and hay meadows; running campaigns to protect the Lake District from inappropriate developments and helping people volunteer, learn skills and engage with this spectacular landscape.

We hope you will join us this year for a sponsored walk like no other.

Registration costs £10 (£5 under 16s) and includes a free event t-shirt for adults and free water bottle for children.
