EVENT FULL - Great Asby Scar – Limestone Pavements, Fossils and Thunderstones SORRY! EVENT FULL The stunning views from Great Asby Scar, at the heart of the Westmorland Dales, are founded on its underlying geology, particularly carboniferous limestone. So join us on a walk as part of our autumn walks programme to learn more about the area’s fascinating geology with its limestone pavements, fossils and thunderstones. The walk will be led by David Evans from the Westmorland Dales team and members of Cumbria Geoconservation. Places are limited so booking is essential. The 5-6 mile circular walk will start and finish at Orton, and will be along public footpaths and over open access land. So walking boots and a reasonable level of fitness will be needed, together with wet weather gear, food and drink. We’ll be starting at 10am and finishing by 4pm.
