“For me as an adventurer – someone who makes a living by encouraging others to realise that they can have adventures close to home, that are every bit as rewarding and exciting as those found overseas – the Lake District has set the scene for some of the most memorable experiences of my life”. Phoebe Smith.

Phoebe, Editor-at-Large of Wanderlust Travel Magazine, regularly writes for The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times (of London) and is an award-winning broadcaster for BBC Radio 4's From Our Own Correspondent. She is the author of several books including ‘Extreme Sleeps: Adventures of a Wild Camper’, ‘Wilderness Weekends: Wild Adventures in Britain's Rugged Corners’ and the first guidebook to British bothies – ‘Book of the Bothy’.

Join Phoebe as she takes you on a journey around the world to reveal the wildest nights out on the planet. But it's not all about the far flung destinations, she’ll show how you can make the most of weekends here in the UK, unlocking some of the best places to wild camp. She’ll have you reaching for your bivvy bag as she recounts her ‘Extreme Sleeps Challenge’ in which she became the first woman to sleep solo at the extreme points of mainland Britain. Then make you feel thankful for your mattress as she tells of her Sleep the 3 Peaks for Christmas venture, which she completed raising nearly £8,000 for Centrepoint the homeless charity, whilst simultaneously encouraging people not to rush climbing the highest peaks in the country and instead make it an experience to savour. She'll have your knees knocking while describing what it was like to hang from portaledges on 10 UK Landmarks in her recent Extreme Sleep Out.

Finally she will share with you her hard-won advice on what to pack, staying safe in the wilderness and how to have some wild nights of your own on Britain's best small hills with just a tent and an sense of adventure...
