The Long View will highlight seven remarkably ordinary trees in seven extraordinary locations across Cumbria through 2016, with photographs and writing exploring landscape and land use, ecology, tree science, local stories and cultural lore and the role of trees in a healthy biodiverse world.

The project will span almost two years, with walking, creativity and community events with trees in stunning locations spread across England’s Lake District, culminating in a touring exhibition that will launch in the galleries at Grizedale Forest in 2017.

You can find out more on The Long View website pages.

As well as providing £10,000 in sponsorship towards the project, we are delighted to have one of the seven ‘Long View’ trees, a beautiful hawthorn, situated on our land (pictured below).

We’ll provide more information about the project and the schedule of events in the Summer / Autumn edition of Conserving Lakeland.
