If you’re organising an event this year, it may qualify for a ‘Discover Cumbria’ grant.

We've teamed up with Natural England to create a scheme enabling organisations, schools and groups to run innovative events or activities which encourage people and communities to get outside, discover and enjoy something new about the natural environment.

The funding has already been taken up by a number of groups benefitting from Individual grants of up to £500 for their events and activities across Cumbria.

A footpath opening between Skelton and Unthank, a day out to Tindale to rediscover its industrial past and a Small Blue Butterfly count are just a few of the activities supported with funding from the  ‘Discover Cumbria’ grant scheme.

Jan Darrall, Policy Officer said:

“We’ve already funded a diverse range of activities this year and I’d encourage anybody organising events and activities to visit our website to find out more about their eligibility and how to apply for the funding.

“We’re really interested in events focusing on landscape, flora and fauna, land management, or those celebrating local events or our fantastic cultural heritage.“

Events must be free to attend and can run anytime until December 2015. Grant money is available but limited so funding is being offered on a rolling basis. Events must be new or have a funding gap and won’t be funded retrospectively.

If you’re running an event or activity which you think may qualify, visit our How To Apply page or contact [email protected]
